Imagine feeding and caring for ancient tortoises, maintaining their enclosures, or assisting in the search for sea turtle nests and hatchlings. Your journey begins on Isabela Island, where you’ll settle into comfortable accommodations—either a private room in a volunteer house or a welcoming homestay with a local family. The primary objective is ambitious yet vital: to reforest San Cristobal Island with endemic and native plant species in both rural and urban areas. Through collaborative efforts with international volunteers and local families, the mission aims to conserve and protect the environment while bolstering community agricultural initiatives. Volunteers engage in a variety of tasks that are crucial to the project’s success. These include:

• Reforestation Efforts: Collecting seeds, preparing seedlings, and planting native flora to restore natural habitats.
• Invasive Species Removal: Eradicating non-native plants like blackberry, tupirosa, and guava that threaten the local ecosystem.
• Organic Farming: Assisting in the organic garden, preparing soil, and fertilizing to promote sustainable agriculture.
• Community Initiatives: Participating in construction projects to improve the farm and local infrastructure.
• Animal Husbandry: Feeding animals, milking, and even cheese-making offer a glimpse into the island’s agricultural practices.

Accommodation is provided in a volunteer house equipped with all the necessary amenities, including a kitchen, living room, and shared bedrooms accommodating up to six people.
