Overview
Our goal is to educate teachers and establish preschools in Rwanda. TEACH Rwanda operates two schools that serve 140 low-income children, including orphans. We provide professional development to Rwandan early childhood teachers who learn about child development and international best practices. TEACH Rwanda coaches teachers to plan curriculum to promote analytical thinking, encourage learning through play by designing inviting classrooms, document children’s progress, involve families as volunteers, and recruit community resources.

Harmony School, a TEACH Rwanda Project School in partnership with Ready for Reading, has opened! Children were warmly welcomed by their teachers, and of course, shared children's books!
Nine Rwandan teachers were introduced to international best educational practices for young children. These teachers all expect to work in future TEACH Rwanda project schools.
Children in Rwinkwavu were introduced to many new learning materials, including cardboard blocks that their parents helped assemble.
James and Dative wrote captions as children describe their detailed art museum memories. Children’s art and stories were assembled into a bound book for the Bright School library.
Children created a colorful mural to hang in their new Art Studio. They loved painting their hands and feet to make prints!
Bernadette worked every day with children who wrote and drew in colorful journals that were assembled and donated by United Methodist Women in Pennsylvania’s Northeast District.
