VE Global

I have been volunteering with VE Global for the past 5 months, as a volunteer in a residencia, and will be continuing my work with VE in the office for the next month and a half. My work over these past few months have been so fulfilling for me through my work in the residencia. My first reasoning for travelling to Chile was to gain independence and to gain experience in a foreign country. However, within my first few weeks of working in the residencia I realised that to make sure that the girls get something out of our time together is the most important thing and if I do too then that is just a bonus.
My experience in Chile and working with VE has been one of the best in my life to this point. My work in the residencia, whilst during my time I couldn’t see the differences I made, it all accumulated to a fantastic moment at the end of my time working with the girls. The last day in the residencia made it all worthwhile. The cards and gifts showed me how much they appreciated what I had being doing with them over the past few months and made me feel like I had achieved something very special during my time with them. The connection between myself and the girls there had been growing throughout my time with them, I felt like I had become the older, funny, and a little bit crazy brother to all of them.
It has been great for me as a volunteer to have some responsibilities in the residencia and as I start my new work in the office it will be great to see the other side of VE. However, what I appreciate the most about VE is the support that they have provided me over these 5 months or so, you can talk to any at the organisation about any problems you may be having, whether that be as part of your work or just about life in general. Someone will have experienced the same or similar things and will help you work through whatever problem you may encounter.

I volunteered with VE Global for 10 months. It was an amazing experience that allowed to be involved with something I felt truly passionate about and form life-long friendships. I would highly recommend this organization to anyone interested in a full time volunteer opportunity, working with children.

I volunteered with VE Global from September 2009 until March 2010. Primarily my role was to provide companionship and educational support in a home for teenage girls, but I was also a member of the sports and arts committee. I would highly recommend VE Global as a place to volunteer. From the moment I arrived I was made to feel comfortable and provided with all the support necessary to make my volunteer experience both rewarding and productive. VE offers a comprehensive orientation to help you settle into life as a volunteer, your role and the city itself. In addition, there is also a volunteer retreat to share experiences with the other volunteers. Perhaps what I liked most about my time in Santiago with VE was the fantastic atmosphere and social element between the volunteers and VE team. While the work itself can sometimes be challenging I never smiled and laughed as much as during my six months in Santiago. VE global is very well organised and offers the perfect platform to make a real positive difference and make the most out of your time as a volunteer.

I volunteered with VE Global from September 2009-March 2010. From Day 1, I felt completely supported and empowered to take on the role of working in a home for teenage girls. The support from the Office staff helped me create truly rewarding workshops for the girls, thus creating strong bonds. The work that VE does with the kids of Santiago, Chile is truly inspiring, helpful, and necessary.

I was unsure what I wanted to do when I graduated college. All I knew was I loved working with children and I wanted to learn Spanish. VE Global helped me realize my professional goals and personal strengths. Not to mention, I have created long-lasting friendships from all over the world.

I highly recommend VE Global for anyone that is interested in new experiences.

I volunteered with VE Global from September 2008 to December 2009, working in a children s home for boys and girls 2-12, and serving as Education Coordinator from December 2008 on. It was an invaluable growing and learning experience, especially coming fresh out of my undergraduate studies. I was supported well in my roles, especially for a growing organization that was only 5 years old at the time. I will always be grateful for the time that I spent working with VE, and for the friendships I made through the organization.

I have maintained fairly close contact with VE since leaving Chile, and am proud to say that they have only grown and improved for the better since my departure. I can't wait to see more positive growth in the future, and hope to stay as involved as possible. I highly recommend VE Global to anyone looking for an adventure, who loves working with children, and who is committed to social justice.

Yo era voluntaria con VE Global desde septiembre 2008 hasta diciembre de 2009. Hice mi voluntario en un hogar para niños y niñas de 2-12, y sirviendo como Coordinador de Educación por un año. Fue una experiencia de crecimiento y aprendizaje invaluable, especialmente viniendo recién salido de mis estudios universitarios. Me apoyaron bien en mis roles, especialmente para una organización en crecimiento de sólo 5 años de edad en ese momento. Siempre estaré agradecido por el tiempo que pasé trabajando con VE, y por las amistades que he hecho a través de la organización.

He mantenido bastante contacto con VE desde mi partida de Chile, y estoy orgullosa de decir que sólo han crecido y mejorado desde mi partida. No puedo esperar a ver el crecimiento más positivo en el futuro, y espero seguir siendo tan involucrada como sea posible. Yo recomiendo altamente VE Global a cualquiera que busque una aventura, a que le encanta trabajar con niños, y que está comprometido con la justicia social.
