Overview
Volunteer Uganda is an award winning group of organisations dedicated to supporting communities in southwest Uganda in their efforts to rise out of poverty. Its mission is to help bring about permanent, sustainable development through educational infrastructure development, job creation, health promotion and volunteering.
Volunteer Uganda offers a range of skill-based volunteer programmes to give enthusiastic, young people the opportunity to teach, support and inspire the local community and help them rise out of poverty.
Our flagship project combines inspiring Primary School Teaching Placements, HIV/AIDS Outreach schemes and extra-curricular activities. Volunteers choose to stay for either 6 or 12 weeks teaching their own class of children. No prior experience of teaching is needed.

I volunteered with Volunteer Uganda in 2011 and had the best time of my life. The 12 weeks I spent out there teaching was amazing. The children were so enthusiastic and the people in Uganda were so friendly. When I was out there there were a group of 32 of us. Most of the volunteers were students so it was a really cool group and everyone became really close.
I would recommend anyone to volunteer with VU. What the Organisation has achieved already is amazing and I know that the future is really bright for the organisation and for the community in which it is based.
