Overview

Wildlife Africa Conservation Team (Wildlife ACT) is a dedicated team of conservationists aimed at expanding the monitoring of endangered wildlife species within Southern Africa. You can join our professional team and contribute to our conservation projects as we monitor animals such as Cheetah, African Wild Dog, Rhino, Lion, Elephant and Leopard. We implement and manage tracking and wildlife conservation projects on reserves across South Africa and provide means for interested individuals to join our team and work with us to contribute to these aims. We are the only conservation volunteer programme in Africa supported by, and that work with high profile conservation organisations including WWF, Endangered Wildlife Trust and Panthera. Apply today to become a conservation volunteer!

There were only 10 lectures (that could have been done in a weekend) lasting about 30mins to an hour stretched out over 4 weeks probably so they can milk you for extra cash.. we only did two assignments: a social media post and hung some bags of poop in a tree for a presentation both extremely juvenile. As someone who grew up in and is currently involved in research and conservation, its not a good place to learn. They cant complete a basic biological survey (all the data was guessed and fields left blank), tree wrapping was a failure (elephants still knocked them over), dehorning rhino resulted in more poaching and the anti poaching k9 units are afraid of gunfire. If you want to play dress up, grab some photos with sedated animals, have a feel-good experience and leave thinking you made a difference and helped the animals, go for it. If you want to learn go else where. All their awards are in tourism not conservation, they sell an experience nothing else. I got no response from wildlife act when I made my grievances known.

I volunteered with this organisation last summer for a month and I would recommend them to everybody! It was everything I expected it to be and more. Not only did I have incredible wildlife experiences, I made great new friends (some other volunteers, some staff members) and was so well looked after. When I had an issue with my booking due to another organisation I booked through (book directly with Wildlife ACT, trust me!) they were so supportive and accommodating. I'll never forget how helpful they were. I'll definitely volunteer with this organisation again some day!
